Welcome to K9Lives, a UK-based charitable organisation registered by the Charity Commission for England and Wales on the 9th of April 2021. Our team is passionate about advocating for the health and welfare of stray animals around the world, with a focus on the overwhelming stray animal problem in rural communities throughout India.
For these stray animals, everyday is a struggle for survival that begins with the rising sun and continues long into the night. It is a precarious life they live, where the streets are the only home they know and there is no stability, safety or security. Their vulnerability leaves them exposed to harsh weather conditions and they are prone to injury, disease and malicious abuse from cruel bystanders. Although their presence is tolerated by some, it is despised by many. There are animal cruelty laws in place, but they are rarely enforced, and in most cases, ineffective to protect these strays from violence and mistreatment.
A Growing Problem That Deserves Urgent Attention.
As large numbers of unsterilized canines and felines roam the streets , they birth uncontrolled litters of puppies. 80% of the puppies born to these strays will die within the first year, many times from abuse at the hands of cruel or ill-informed people. These unloved and unwanted strays are constantly exposed to disease. Combined with a lack of knowledge, awareness and education, this has a direct impact on rural communities and exacerbates the negative attitude and harmful perception of the stray animal population.
With Compassion And Care, We Can Give These Animals a Better Life
During our outreach visits to these rural communities, we have seen for ourselves the resounding impact of this growing problem. The stray animals have left a lasting impression on our hearts, opening our eyes to the plight that exists in underserved areas, and driving us to change the situation for the better. Through our widespread sterilisation efforts and vaccination programmes, we aim to partner with Humane Society International India, communities, NGOs, and other local entities to raise awareness, while improving the lives of stray dogs and cats.

These animals need us. Their battle is our battle, and at K9Lives, we believe we can change the lives of the stray animal population, one step at a time, one day at a time, one pawprint at a time.
The heart breaking story of the survival of the fittest is seen daily on the streets. K9Lives is committed to changing the landscape of these forgotten and forsaken animals, while we work towards healing the many wounds of their battle. Not just physical wounds, but emotional wounds, mental wounds and social wounds. Wounds that cause scars well below the surface, which strip away trust only to be replaced by fear and aggression.
These innocent animals didn’t ask for this life, but we can make it better for them, as we leave a positive legacy for future generations.
